The FIPR Institute has published six teaching units. All published units have been peer-reviewed. Current and future published units will be listed here.
Unit- How does your garden grow? Young students will learn the importance of nutrients as they relate to plant growth and food production. This unit is very hands-on including preparation, growing, and harvesting a garden.
Unit- Florida’s Ancient Oceans Students will learn about Florida’s geological history through several activities. They will make a timeline rope, research and act out the roles of ancient animals, and become an amateur archeologist.
Unit- Phosphate: A Florida Resource Mined for Math Using phosphate related concepts students will learn angles, surveying, graphing, grid work, higher level thinking, and problem solving.
Unit- Phosphate Mining and Reclamation Includes a phosphate mining simulation, lesson on economics, and exploration of Florida’s natural resources and habitats, and peer review.
Unit- Prehistoric Florida, Fossils, and Phosphate This unit focuses on Florida’s history, people, weather, agriculture, and industries. Students will learn about rocks, minerals, and fossils. This unit is a great guide for field experiences.
Unit- Phosphate Mining: Borrowed Land Students will learn how to use GPS technology to take core samples, learn about their natural community on site, and how to preserve endangered species.
